Ryan O’Neill died on December 8
Ryan O’Neill died on December 8, 2023 at the age of 82 after a long struggle with leukemia, prostate cancer and heart failure. Famous thanks to the cult roles in the films “Love Story” and “Barry Lyndon”, O’nila’s personal life was overshadowed by scandals, especially his rapid relations with actress Farra Fossett.
His son Redmond, who was in a stationary institution, was not present at his funeral, and two other children – Gryffin and Tatum O’Neill – were also absent. Gryffin, who was alienated from his father for 17 years after a brutal quarrel, said that he was not invited, although he hoped to be present and say goodbye. The Tatum, on the contrary, reconciled with her father in the late 2000s and expressed deep sadness about his departure.
The small memorial event held at the Westwood Memorial Park cemetery gathered about 25 people, and Ryan was buried next to Farra, fulfilling his desire to be near her. However, this decision caused disputes: some claimed that it contradicted the last wishes of Farra. Despite the contradictions, his father’s friends defended the depth of his feelings for Farre.
Ryan’s son, Patrick O’NIN, actively defended his father’s heritage, criticizing those who defend his name, and was even outraged that his father was expelled from the Emmy memorial segment at the beginning of the year. Ultimately, Ryan was immortalized in the hold of In Memoriam at the 2024 Emmy ceremony.
